The bottom line is that enemas can offer important extra support to the body’s natural detoxification process. Enemas and colon cleansing can do this by supporting our bowel and liver function, which in turn should support the normal function of many other important organs.
We feel that it is often a good idea to do up to two enemas during a Detox regime week or two week program as they can help support the body’s natural pathways of detoxification. Using enemas in this way during the Detox regime will not make your bowel sluggish, or make you reliant on then in the long-term.

A coffee enema works by supporting the release of bile from the liver which is an important elimination process to support an effective Detoxification.
Boil 3 dessertspoons of Organic ground coffee in filtered or bottled water for about 2 minutes. Turn the heat down and simmer for a further 15 minutes. Filter the coffee water through a tea strainer into a measuring jug and make up to approx. 1litre / 2 pints of body temperature liquid.
To do the enema – hang the enema bag about 2-3 feet from the ground – a door handle is an ideal height. Make sure the enema bag tap/clamp is closed, and then fill the enema bag. Let the air out of the tube until it is filled with coffee water and then turn off the tap/clamp again. Lie on your right side with knees towards your chest. Try to keep the enema liquid held in for at least 15 minutes…longer if possible. Half an hour is ample time. If you find that you can only manage to keep it in a short time, try reducing the strength and volume of the coffee water next time and you can slowly build up to the optimum amount.
Many of you may have seen the recent media coverage of how undertaking a naturopathic Detox is no better than going to bed early and drinking a glass of tap water.
We agree with the early night, but have they ever analysed the average glass of tap water!! They also go further to suggest that many of the naturopathic products that they researched were ineffective without enlarging on what form this research took!
However, these findings are of no real surprise to us as we have said for years that many products on the market claim to support the body’s natural detoxification processes, which to a point they may, but all too often the price limitations for the product cost and the expensive presentation and marketing are put ahead of the product’s effectiveness.
If you have seen this media coverage you may now be surprised to learn that there is certainly a vast amount of high quality research that concludes that if you take the correct, carefully calculated balance of truly biologically active nutrients you can achieve an effective full body cellular detoxification which can support your liver, kidneys and bowel function.
